Our story
After working with other local rescues, I soon began to realise that feral, difficult cats were often left behind. In 2019, I made the decision to open up Special Paws. Although we know we can't help every cat, we get great pleasure knowing we've at least contributed towards their future.
As a family ran rescue, we all take great pride in our work, and treat every intake as if they was our own. We understand some are going to be harder than others, and that's what we thrive off.
About us
Special Paws Cat Rescue specializes in feral cat rehabilitation along with strays and abandoned cats. With each and every cat that comes into our care, we assess their health, conditions and needs. With our amazing veterinary team conducting head-to-toe health checks, we can have a better understanding for their requirements. Following their intake assessments, they are placed within one of our many amazing foster homes situated across the Derbyshire region.

Our Foster Team
Whilst in our care, all cats are placed in to one of our amazing foster homes. All fosters are volunteers within our region, from all walks of life. We have specialized fosters who thrive in different aspects within the rescue. From nursing mums, to kittens and not forgetting the extremely scared and vulnerable, our foster team are ready and willing to help any furry friend brought into our care. All our fosters are provided with food, litter, equipment and the necessities to maintain the upkeep of our amazing cats. With a 24/7 group chat, the whole team have become one big family, and we look forward to expanding our TeamPink family.

Becoming a member of the TeamPink foster team
We are always on the lookout for new members to our foster family. We offer around the clock support, and it doesn't need to cost you a penny. If you require us to do so, we can provide everything you need to get you fostering in no time! With a steady flow of food and litter, all you would need to offer is a warm, loving home, and maybe a little bit of patience (don't worry though, the cats will pay you back with love and affection).

Why adopt from Special Paws?
We believe that your new cat or kitten needs to be just that, yours. We will be open and honest about all the cats you query us about, including any negative traits they may have. We want for you, the adopter, to be just as happy as the cats. With our customer service team, we don't just leave you in the lurch following your adoption. We follow up with our adopters and love nothing more than frequent updates and finding out about all their adventures.
We have had cats adopted who lead amazing lives, from living on yachts travelling the world, to living on river boats exploring the country. We will be open and honest with all applications, and if we don't believe the cat you've enquired about isn't for you, we may have the perfect one for you.
